I purchased it with pretty much one job in mind, VW catalytic converters...but it works well at so much more! It has a 1/2 drive female end to snap right onto your impact gun, and the other end is a swivel, all set for 3/8 drive sockets. This works out great since it is usually pretty tight up by the exhaust manifold -certainly not enough room for a standard 1/2 extension + 1/2 universal + 1/2 drive socket- and even if you can reach a few of the bolts this way (or variations of the pieces), do you really want an erector set clipped onto your gun? This tool is is like 3 tools in one (four if you count the adaptor) you would need to step to or from 1/2 to 3/8 - and it is solid- no slop between pieces...because it is all one piece!
