Japanese Kiridashi (Marking knife). In researching these knives I chanced upon a site from Germany who market these as carving tools,and indeed they would be very useful for a carver;but; they are Kiridashi really. I have a range of sizes here and they all are between 140mm and 180mm long; getting longer as they get wider. Made from laminated low & high carbon steel,the larger sizes have a hollow scoop in the blade to make sharpening easier.Really just a sharpened piece of laminated steel prettily decorated(acid etched in an antique style pattern) for marking or cutting as a knife would. Make your own handle if you like. This size and the sizes listed below are what we have remaining for LEFT Hand use only Sizes available for LH use are 12mm.15mm.18mm.21mm.24mm. 27mm 30mm. All are the same price and were made to retail at between £12 and £23 so for £2 plus a little postage the opportunity is here to own a very sharp piece of laminated Japanese steel !!. |
